Exploring London: First Day in the UK

I am going to try to keep up with pictures and anecdotes, but I may get behind! Sleep is important! It's currently 12:46 am here and I am going on a day trip to Stonehenge and Bath in the morning, so I should get some rest, but here are some pictures from my first day in the UK. Stay posted for updates - I hope to post something at least every couple of days :)

DAY 1

A Victorian Mansion that has been turned into a hostel
1. My flight got into London around 2:00 pm and I was all settled into my hostel by 4:30. I wasn't feeling incredibly tired and the sun doesn't set here until 9:00 so I decided to hop on the tube for some exploring!

2. I got off at the Westminster Station, and the first thing that I saw when I emerged from the Underground was Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster! Truly incredible!

3. First meal in London - Traditional Fish 'n Chips at a charming establishment. I walked in and there was a kind looking old gentleman behind the corner. I said, "Hello! This is my first day in England! What do you suggest?" He kind of chuckled
and said, "Why don't you take a table in the back and we'll bring some fish 'n chips out to you." Then he motioned to the cooks next to him and said "Get some haddock on the grill for this young lady!" It was super delicious!

4. Buckingham Palace / St. James' Park - I walked through the park which leads up to Buckingham Palace and there is a beautiful pond in the middle with a bridge crossing it. I went down to the center of the bridge to view the palace and then I saw something white beneath me. IT WAS A SWAN. I think that might be the most idyllic scene I have ever witnessed.
